Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Hair Masque

Once I tried Beautiful Textures Rapid Repair Deep Conditioner, I thought I had found my ideal deep conditioner. Then, I tried Miss Jessie’s Rapid Recovery Treatment and thought that I had found two of the best deep conditioners EVER. Until, I ran across this hair masque. Don’t get me wrong I still love those two deep conditioners, but this masque is also amazing! Last week my hair (especially my ends) were feeling extremely brittle and dry from a mixture of the humidity and heat. Not wanting to let my hair succumb to breakage, I searched through my product stash for a solution. On a whim, I decided to try this masque, as I had received it from a product swap and still hadn’t tried it. It. is. amazing. It has a combination of keratin, coconut oil and olive oil which hydrate hair while strengthening it all at once. It is now one of my go to deep conditioners when my hair is dry, when is starting to break AND right before I’m about to straighten my hair WHICH I won’t be able to do often now that I’m transitioning. This masque truly delivers hydration to the hair without being too heavy on hair. It’s a perfect lifesaver for hair that is dry and damaged. Like I said, I got this from a product swap but it can be purchased at Walmart for $10 for 11 oz. It’s super thick so you can probably get about 4-5 uses out of it depending on hair length.

Pictured below

After a shampoo and conditioner, I apply this masque to my damp hair. First, I section my hair into four different sections. Then, within each section I apply this masque, detangling with a wide tooth comb to ensure equal distribution. I put on a plastic cap and sit underneath my bonnet dryer for 20 minutes. Rinse and try to keep my hands out of my super soft hair!

Oyin Handmade Shine and Define

Love this product! As far as curl defining products go, this product comes second only to Aunt Jackie’s Curl La La (which I’m obsessed with)! This product instantly defines my curls, getting them ready for a short and sweet blast from my diffuser for maximum definition. This product also gives you SHINE and MOISTURE which, in the end, leaves you with super soft defined curls. Who doesn’t love that?! The smell is also sweet and tropical! It is ORGANIC, Paraben Free, Protein Free, Silicone Free, Sulfate Free AND Cruelty Free. I bought this product as part of my Oyin snack pack on the Oyin website. I would recommend this snack pack for anyone that is new to the Oyin hair care line as it gives you the ability to try a variety of sample size products (give you about 1-3 uses of each) without buying the full sizes. Love! However, there are 3 different sizes of this product. Starting at 4 oz for $14.

Curly Nikki has a great review on this product as well–here is the blog. AND Oyin Handmade also has a super cute YouTube video that tells you how to use this product to style your hair.

Water, Linum usitatissimum (Flax) Seeds (Organic), Aloe barbadensis Leaf Juice (Organic), Sea Vegetable Complex, Cocos nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Ricinus communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Unrefined Butyrospermum parkii (Shea Butter) Fruit, Raw Honey, Vegetable Glycerin, Stearic Acid (from Palm), Emulsifying Wax NF (Vegetable Derived), Fruit Pectin, Xanthan Gum, Dextrose, Phenoxyethanol (and) Caprylyl Glycol (Preservative), Citrus limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citrus aurantium dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Fragrance.

As I mentioned above, you can watch this YouTube video to tell you how to style your hair. But the way I used it, was as follows. After a fresh wash and condition, I apply a spray leave in such as Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla Leave In. Then, Giovani’s Direct Leave In Conditioner. A small amount of Coconut Oil and then this product to shine, define, and seal all that moisture in. A curl diffuser is a nice add into the mix for maximum curl definition! You’ll love the end results, promise!

These are my results!

The LOC Method

A year ago, I didn’t know what the “LOC Method” meant. A year later, I’m well versed in the LOC Method and the different products I can use when doing this method. Now that I know, however, I find it crazy strange when others don’t know what it means to LOC! Well, ladies, now it’s time to find out!

This method is for curlies and naturalistas. The LOC Method seals in moisture and hydrates dry, damaged locks. So, how do you LOC?

STEP 1 – Apply a moisturizing water-based leave-in conditioner to cleansed hair
STEP 2 – Apply a thin layer of oil to your hair to help lock in the moisture
STEP 3 – Apply a butter-based, creamy moisturizer to your hair to seal that moisture in

Admittedly, this routine takes a lot of trial and error to ensure that you’re using just the right product balance for your hair. Below is a picture of some of the products I like to use when I LOC! Here are articles that further explain the LOC method. The first is from Naturally Curly and the second is from Curly Nikki!
Also, here are two videos I LOVE that really do a great job at showing how to LOC your hair. One video is for winter LOC and the second video is for those with relaxed hair that need some extra moisture. I don’t recommend using the LOC method if you have relaxed hair UNLESS it’s super thick or still curly (like mine) because it’ll be too heavy for your hair, in my opinion.

Nexxus Pro Mend Split End Binding Daily Conditioner

This is a conditioner that I feel is…“meh” It’s not a conditioner that I regret buying but it’s also not one that I can’t do without. This conditioner is meant to “target and bind split ends back together.” I don’t see much of a difference when I use this conditioner than when I don’t use it on my ends BUT if you take a look at the ingredients in this product, they are specifically tailored to laying hair down, reducing frizz, and adding moisture. I got this product at Walgreens for $16 for 13.5 fl oz. While it is pricey, I have used this 90% of the time since I first purchased it (in January) and now, in May, I still have not finished the entire bottle.

Water (Aqua) , Propylene Glycol , Cetyl Alcohol , Cyclopentasiloxane , PPG 3 Benzyl Ether Myristate , Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine , Polyquaternium 28 , Cyclohexasiloxane , Stearyl Alcohol , Dimethicone , Glyceryl Stearate , Aspartic Acid , Polyquaternium 37 , Fragrance (Parfum) , Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate , DMDM Hydantoin , PPG 1 Trideceth 6 , Disodium EDTA , Sodium Hydroxide , Hexylcinnamal , Butylphenyl Methlyproprional , Limonene , Coumarin , Linalool , Alpha Isomethyl Ionone , Citronellol , Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil , Keratin Amino Acid , Jasminum Officinale Flower (Jasmine) Extract

After I shampoo my hair, I apply any of the array of conditioners I have in my product stash. I then use this conditioner on my ends, comb through (WIDE tooth comb) and then rinse after 3 minutes. My ends are left feeling soft and sleeeek. Below is a picture of my ends in January (when I first started using this product) and underneath that, is a picture of my ends now.

Lush Superbalm Scalp Treatment

I’m a firm believer that healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp! For that reason (and more) I love this Lush Superbalm Scalp Treatment!! Everytime I use it my scalp feels clean and refreshed! I must admit that I don’t suffer from severe dry scalp or dandruff, as this product mainly calls for. I do, however, experience bouts of dry, tight scalp. Although they are minor, they still happen and this product stops any itching or tightness that I feel. I like to use this product biweekly and even add a few drops of peppermint oil in to the mix to get my circulation flowing. I purchased this product from Lush for $20 for 1.5 oz. It IS pricy but a little goes a long long way! The Lush website features of video on how to apply the treatment to your scalp while this article details the importance of scalp treatments.

Salicylic Acid , Rose Wax (Rosa damascena) , Lavender Oil (Lavandula augustifolia) , Chamomile Blue Oil (Matricaria Chamomilla) , Rose Absolute (Rosa damascena) , Fragrance , Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (Cocos nucifera) , Candelilla Wax (Euphorbia cerifera) , *Limonene , *Linalool , *Geraniol , *Citronellol

I use this treatment before I shampoo (bi weekly). I generally apply it to my scalp at the same time as I’m applying my pre poo treatment to the length of my hair. So, I separate my hair into four sections. Within these four sections, I apply this treatment to my scalp making sure not to get any into my hair as it can be difficult to wash out, especially for those with thick hair. After I have applied to all sections, I make sure to massage my scalp thoroughly. As I stated above, I like to add in a few drops of peppermint oil so I really get my circulation flowing!!

As I apply my pre poo treatment along with this scalp treatment, when I’m done applying I sit under my hair steamer for 20 minutes. Afterwards, I rinse out and voila, a clean refreshed scalp is what I’m left with! Because I don’t suffer from dandruff, I can’t assure that this product actually removes all dandruff but in experience Lush products always deliver. All in all, scalp treatments promote healthy hair and hair growth!! I will definitely purchase this again!

Jasmine & Henna Fluff-Eaze Hair Treatment

I am in absolute LOVE with this product!! There is not a sufficient amount of words to express how much I currently love this product. Needless to say, these past two weeks have been great for me in my search for the perfect product for my hair. From Aunt Jackie’s Curl Custard to this Jasmine & Henna Fluff-Eaze Hair Treatment. I’m in product junkie heaven!
This is a pre wash hair treatment that promises to “get control of fluffy, untamed tresses and leave them calm, smooth and shiny–not to mention smelling irresistibly sexy.” It delivers on ALL of that! This hair treatment is meant to give you all the benefits of henna without having to color your hair with henna. If you don’t know about the wonders of henna for hair, read this article!
I was able to get this product from Lush for $22 for 7.9 oz. A little pricy but I estimate I’ll be about to get about 5-6 uses out of it, which is a lot for my thick hair.

Red Henna Infusion (Lawsonia inermis) , Water (Aqua) , Cetearyl Alcohol and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate , Fragrance , Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil (Olea europaea) , Olive Oil (Olea europaea) , Ylang Ylang Oil (Cananga odorata) , Jasmine Absolute (Jasminum officinale) , Cold Pressed Organic Wheatgerm Oil (Triticum vulgare) , Cold Pressed Organic Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia Chinensis) , Almond Oil (Prunus dulcis) , Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (Cocos nucifera) , Organic Hemp Oil (Cannabis sativa) , Brazil Nut Oil (Bertholletia Excelsa) , Benzyl Alcohol , Wheatgerm Oil (Triticum vulgare) , Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis) , Coconut Butter (Cocos nucifera) , Hemp Oil (Cannabis sativa) , Soya Oil (Glycine Soja) , Castor Oil (Ricinus communis) , *Benzyl Salicylate , *Benzyl Benzoate , *Farnesol , *Eugenol , *Limonene , *Geraniol , *Linalool , Hydroxycitronellol , Methyl Ionone , *Benzyl Alcohol , Isoeugenol , Methylparaben , Propylparaben

Because this product is a pre-wash, it’s a pre-poo. So it’s meant to be used before your shampoo and condition your hair. Thus, I parted my hair into four sections, uncapped the tub, and began to apply to my hair section by section. This product has GREAT slip and leaves your hair feeling incredibly soft as soon as you fully saturate your hair with it. Pay special attention to the ends ladies!!

The instruction say to apply a thick coat and leave on for 20 minutes. I did as such but left on for about 30 minutes because I did a steam treatment with my beloved hair steamer! As soon as I rinsed out my hair, I followed with a sulfate free shampoo. My hair felt so soft that I HAD to step out of the shower and see what my hair looked like. I had the BEST curl definition I’ve ever had (without product–I tried to picture it below but it’s hard to see, just trust me) and my hair was frizz free and crazy soft. I did condition my hair afterwards but I skipped the deep condition cause my hair just felt THAT good!

This product also has an amazing Jasmine scent that is not too overpowering. 2 days after washing people standing close to me, especially my boyfriend, could still smell it and could not stop telling me how good my hair smelled.

This product is one that I will KEEP purchasing! I will do an update, however, after I’ve finished the tub as regular henna treatments are meant to improve your hair’s porosity. Until then, try it for yourself!

SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Style Milk

This product is one that NEEDS to be used in conjunction with either the accompanying Curl Enhancing Smoothie OR the Curling SoufflĂ© for maximum benefits. I say that because this product will not deliver any moisture on it’s own. It can give you shine and minimize frizz but moisture? Not so much. I purchased this product from Walgreens for $11 for 8 fl oz. While this product line is more expensive than the others within the SheaMoisture line, they DO last longer. With these products, a little goes a LONG way!

Deionized Water , Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) , Cocos Nucifera Oil (Coconut) , Sugar Starch , Silk Protein , Essential Oil Blend , Melia Azadirachta Seed Oil (Neem) , Caprylyl Glycol , Sorbitol Esters , Algae Extract , Hlyssopus Officinalis Extract , Salvia Officinalis Leaf and Equisetum Arvense Extract (Sage) , Daucus Carota Sativa Seed Oil (Carrot) , Tocopherol (Vitamin E)

Similar to the other products in this Coconut & Hibiscus line, I love the Coconut oil, shea butter and Vitamin E in this product!

I use this product when doing wash and go’s. I like to apply about a nickel sized amount to each section of my hair, after dividing into four sections. Before applying, however, I spray in Nothing But Curl Wake Up spray. After distributing this spray throughout my hair, I apply this curl and style milk. After this application, I begin to apply a curl defining creme of my choice. This is where you would apply the SheaMoisture Curling Souffle, if you have it. I have yet to try this product but from the research I’ve done, if applied correctly, this product really works wonders and delivers well defined curls. Lastly, you would apply a leave in conditioner (such as Giovanni’s Direct Leave In) mixed with a small amount (and I mean a SMALL amount) of the SheaMoisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie. This last step delivers well moisturized, weightless, and WELL DEFINED curls!
