While one of the lesser known butters, cupuacu butter is extremely hydrating for the hair and skin. Throughout my research I have found many many articles that rave about the benefits of this butter in detail! A few of my favorites are those articles by Lush and Clutch.
In a brief summary, taken from the article in Clutch, the benefits of this butter are in its similarity to Cocoa Butter. Cupuacu butter, however has a softer, creamier consistency. It contains essential fatty acids and phytosterols, and is very moisturizing for skin and hair. It is also a natural protection from UV-A and UV-B rays. It can be used to treat skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis and adds shine and replenishes moisture in hair.
Similar to Monoi and Argan oil, hair care lines have begun to realize the benefits of this butter and release hair care lines with cupuacu butter as the leading ingredient. Carol’s Daughter is among one of the leading pioneers, preparing to launch its new line of cupuacu butter products soon (pictured below)!!
I have yet to try this butter but will be ordering from Texas Nature Supply or From Nature With Love very soon! I will, of course, post a review with my results! In the meantime, here is a great YouTube video that provides a step by step tutorial on how to make your own Cupuacu Butter DIY mix!
